Isabelle
I am thinking of the Carbrook Conservative Club. Was that also demolished? I'm pretty sure it closed years ago. And what was/ is the pub called next to the steelworks?
Marx
I remember the Enfield back when the Noose & Gibbet used to be the Railway. A Mansfield house wasn't it? We only ever went in there when Dot and Barry Goodison has the Railway and their beer was suspect. The other pub on the circuit was the Friendship which was referred to as the 'Top Common'. I think it might still be open.
yellowperil
I used to go in the enfield after work every friday and loved it, classed it as my local and was always looked after by the lovely jo behind the bar. Friendly pub and always felt welcome. Was guttted when it closed. Went in the noose and gibbet a cpl of times and it was ok but seemed like if you werent part of the in crowd in there you were imposing. Pity as it was a nice size. Moonwalker
My Nan, Mary used to own the Enfield Arms as it was, back in the early 60's. Shame when it got raised to the ground
