Lost WW1 Memorial Holy Trinity Darnall

Dear all

Does any one know the wereabouts of the WW1 memorial that once stood in Holy Trinity Church Darnall, (now demolished). It had been seen in a garage where it was put for safekeeping but his was a while ago.

Any information however small will be greatful. It was a large white marble plaque with 194 names. It can't have just disapeared. Please ask older relatives and friends if they remember seeing it. But it isn't the one at The Green Social club that is for club members only.

Thanks Sue

Dear Forum

Any info however small about where it went to, when you last saw it, where you think it went to. Even hearsay. Anything at all you know. If you would like to email me privately please let me know.

Dear all

Still looking. Just had a message from Weston Park Museum and Kelham Island Museum neither of them have any records of the monument.

Doesn't look very promising now. Run out of places to look. We have quite a few definate confirmed sitings of it at the Rectory on Mather Road behind the garage in the mid 80's but nothing after that.

Any suggestions of where else to look are welcomed.

Sue

The WW1 Roll of Honour booklet for Darnall Holy Trinity church is now available to view at Darnall church, Darnall library and Sheffield library local studies. Thank you to Dean Hill who compiled the list in the first place and to everyone else who took part and helped.
