charlottep
Just read your post Whilst I'm not offering to be a partner as I've never done before but there's a class sat 14th which I'm doing and I can get details for you as you might pick someone up there? But it would be begginer?
matt4
Yes, I would like to join as a beginner as its been a while now. Its better to repeat what I have learnt before starting here (as there are multiple styles of salsa). Appreciate if you could get me some details. Thanks
Jive Knight
Plenty of places in Sheffield do salsa: take a look at Help Yourself: http://www.sheffieldhelpyourself.org.uk/default.asp and search on 'leisure' and 'salsa dancing'.
salsafan
Salsa dancing here in Sheffield is quite sociable and open. You do not need a dance partner before you go and dance socially. But maybe it is better to take some classes and meet some of the locals before you go to these free dance places for proper social dancing? For classes: http://www.shef.ac.uk/union/get-involved/societies/salsa# https://www.facebook.com/sheffieldsalsa It worth joining their facebook to check out the times that they hold the classes. There is also another more professional class, but you do have to pay per session. It is held on a Sunday each week at Platillos. If you are a beginner then I can suggest you to go to the Student Union's one first and really get lots of practices in first before attending these weekly social dances which are held everywhere really. Tuesday in The Forum, Thursday in Revolution de Cuba, and Sunday in Platillos. They are all free, and you do not have to pay anything to go there as they are bars. But it may be better to be familiar and get to know one or two person first before going there and ask people for a dance. By the way before asking a lady to dance. It is better to check if you guys are of a similar level, and such like. Cos then your dancing will be in sync.
