Standing stones near Bakewell?

Electerrific

Recommended Posts

About 20yrs ago I remember cycling to Bakewell, past Haddon Hall then turning right (just before the dual carriageway) and uphill on that narrow B5056 road into the shade of the woodland (from memory).

On the top I saw, somewhere around that area where the road levelled off, some standing stones over the dry wall to the right, looking back towards Bakewell.

Here's the map of the area and approx location (Probably Oxclose Wood area?)-

What are these stones? They seemed almost forgotten?

Arbor Low is about five miles west of Nine Stones Close, south of Monyash.

The stones at Arbor Low haven't stood in living memory, if ever, so that one can be ruled out anyway. If the stones are genuinely old it can't be anywhere other than NSC, though the OP's directions are "out" somewhere, unless he's looped round from the B5056 and approached via Cliff Lane from South to North.
