Jeffrey Shaw
At the cinema recently, I made two lists. 1. Axa HTC Johnny Walker Lloyds Bank McDonalds Nokia Russian Standard Sony Vauxhall Vera Wang Vodafone Waitrose 2. Bailey's Casio Coca-Cola Guinness Lifewear Save The Children Tesco Virgin Wonga Those advertisements in list 1 actually contain the spoken name of the firm/product. Those in list 2 don't. Why not? Do they want to keep it secret?
Alien52
Not a very engaging film then ? Maybe you could just have made a phone call like everyone else does.

poppet2
Because one of the cleverest techniques in advertising is allowing a picture to paint a thousand words. Show a picture of a bottle of Coca-Cola, McDonalds Arches, or the Shell insignia and everyone knows what they represent. So there you have it. Electerrific
Must have been a **** film if you compiled a list at the cinema? Or your friends are boring? And do you eat plenty of carrots or something?
poppet2
What I find even more frustrating at the cinema is you are given a start time then discover you have to endure 30 minutes of advertisements before the film starts. It's bad enough having to endure advertisements on TV or a DVD but at least you can mute them at home or fast forward a DVD.
Jeffrey Shaw
True but not relevant to thread topic. Why spend a lot on an advertisement but fail to include the product's spoken name?
NewBiz
True but not relevant to thread topic. Why spend a lot on an advertisement but fail to include the product's spoken name? I think the concept of subliminal and/or subtle advertising has already been explained. Does the fact that you recognised all of the advertisers who didn't mention their names, make you think, even for a moment, that advertising well known brands, even without speaking their names works?
