Jmack
Gay civil partnerships are legal in Ireland & have been for a while. A female cousin of mine is in one, she tells me the objections to actual marriage is getting to be less & less. Exactly. The notion that the Irish prime minister is sitting in his office waiting for a call from Vatican so he can legalise same-sex marriage and abortion is so outdated is actually quite funny. Not only did Kenny 'have a go' in a speech he subsequently withdrew the Irish Ambassador to the Vatican, & informed them that they could deal with the Irish Embassy in Rome for future contact. The UK still retains it's Vatican Ambassador.
