aliceBB
Yorkshire? Maybe your reading skills are a bit duff? I can read perfectly well, thank you. What I read was: no wonder this counties a mess . This county is (presumably) Yorkshire. Or perhaps you meant 'No wonder this country's a mess'? Either way, your spelling and punctuation are...a mess.
goldleaf
Am I mean? I've told my kids christmas won't be happening in this house until bedrooms are clean. Why should they have brand new stuff to put in messy bedrooms. Things don't come free or cheap so they have to understand. I wouldn't mind but they aren't babies, I've got a 16 year old and a 14 year old who were born lazy. You are 100% on the ball! El Cid
You are 100% on the ball! But the OP would never follow it through. Isnt Christmas meant to be a religious celebration? We really should decide what i the point of Christmas; to me its a time to meet the family.
Owethemnowt
Get a house with a cellar .......... that's when it gets mean. Until then you can't be tough enough. Kids are brats pure and simple. Or is that soap?

ammas
My eldest two are 8 and 9 and I made them tidy their bedrooms to make room for their new things from christmas. Then I went in and tidied them properly haha but at least they have a go. It's important for children to learn to respect their homes.

PositivHypno
A bit of structure, guidance and boundaries will last them a lifetime, long after the gifts have been opened and forgotten, so in ref to OP, not mean but caring.
