Israel builds more settlements

Does it mean that because they were slaughtered in the past that we should just let them carry on breaking international law?

Two wrongs don't make a right and it's different when other countries don't observe UN resolutions, you usually get an American president threatening military action.

The hypocrasy is mind boggling!

No, it means we should support Israel because they are our first line of defense against the barbarian hordes. :)

You speak, of course, with the probability that you and yours never faced the horror of the holocaust. I don't know for sure, but as always you have to blame America for everything. It gets old quick.

They learned a lot from their own history. Trust nobody, build a nation in the desert, make it fertile, and defend it against many enemies with a military second to none. Begger the UN resolutions. Where were your kind when they were being slaughtered in their millions by your hun friends, and we all sat back and let them

I'm not taking sides between you two but that post needs replying to.

We all ?

For one, no one knew what was happening to the Jews when they were being slaughtered, and two we were not having a good deal of it from 'our' Hun friends either. The only country that was capable of making a difference and would not get involved when the Jew were being slaughtered was the US. Had they not been so reluctant to join WW2 until they had to, we may have been able to make a difference. The UK was under threat from its own invasion by them and was doing all that it could, every man woman and child.

Having been on the receiving end it beggars belief that they would want to inflict on others what they suffered, to any reasonable person anyhow.

It is very interesting to hear British people taking the usual anti Israel Line which appears to be an exact mirror of our State broadcaster's attitude to the situation.

I personally have no axe to grind or opinion on the matter, but when I have spent time in other European countries mainly (France, Spain, Holland, Germany) and seen how their media reports the middle east troubles between the Israelis and Palestinians, they spend time reporting from the Jewish point of view too.

We never get this in the UK.

I have recently become convinced that we are served up with anti Israel biased from birth in Britain and therefore it is not surprising people hold such views.

From now on I will try and get some international perspective of this area of politics rather than the extremely one sided BBC/ITV/SKY bias.

It's a fear of offending the very sizeable Muslim population. Why, if anything good was said about the Jews the whole of Bradford would erupt in bloody riots

International law you say ? Is there any international law to protect the basic rights of woman and allow girls the right to an education and to be able to vote and choose when and whom to marry? In Saudi they're not even allowed to drive cars

Dont preach international law to me. Israel is the only decent democracy in that part of the world.

Every reasonable persons on the planet knows that they are not inflicting on others, that which was inflicted on them.

Leaders and members of the Islamic Movement in Israel enjoy more freedom and rights than the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Jordan, and even -- under the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank -- Hamas.

Arab journalists and columnists in Israel have been expressing their views about the Egyptian crisis without fear, while their colleagues in Egypt, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority are afraid to speak their mind.

Israel, for example, is one of the few countries in the Middle East where Muslims are permitted to demonstrate in favor of ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood organization.

This is not because Israel supports Morsi or the Muslim Brotherhood; it is because the Muslim protesters know that in a democratic country like Israel they can hold peaceful demonstrations and express their views without having to worry about being targeted by the authorities.

Israel has become a safe place not only for Arab Christians, but also for Muslims who wish to express their opinion away from intimidation and violence.

Good post angos, claiming that Israel is committing a holocaust on others is plainly false.

As for the rest, Israel is a stable liberal democracy in a land of unstable illiberal countries. Lots of people think peace in the Middle East will be achieved if Israel is taken off the map, in fact peace will only ever be achieved when the rest of the countries in the Middle East aspire to be like Israel, when they allow freedom of thought, freedom of the press, rule of law etc.

the problem here is not pro or anti Israel, its Israel taking land from other countries thats not theirs in the first place against international law.

the fact that they are reminds me of another country in 1939, and look what happened there!
