aliceBB
Why? Its is better to enjoy your job, than do something you hate doing. Predictably weak argument. What if your job is being a paid assassin, or a grave robber, or someone who makes paedophile films (or other jobs which involve harming or exploiting people?) There are no doubt people who would enjoy doing those jobs more than working in Mac Donalds, wiping the bums of elderly patients, or shovelling coal. It doesn't make it OK, though! Surely your response is a weak one, those are not jobs, those are criminal acts, escorting is not.
daneha
Surely your response is a weak one, those are not jobs, those are criminal acts, escorting is not. And she claims to be a teacher, you have to feel sorry for the kids in her care.

Not necessarily (some forms of prostitution are illegal), and I would argue that prostitution (which is what escorting is), if you dig below the surface, is merely a form of exploitation of the vulnerable. I was simply trying to demonstrate that just because someone likes/wants/enjoys something (more than something else), does not make it right. cgksheff
sex worker, male escort, rent boy, in some cases its interchangable, some escorts have sex with clients, some dont This guy is a male prostitute serving male clients as are the others in the article. He believes that he is somehow superior to a rent boy but it is all the same in the end. Sadly he has come out of the valleys via psychiatric hospital, rape and drug addiction. He is also facing a very limited career as his looks and body ages. Thus he shows some sense in claiming to be investing wisely.

Any parent/adult who believes otherwise is delusional. If my kids ended up in this situation I would think I'd failed, not congratulate them. salsafan
Why? Its is better to enjoy your job, than do something you hate doing. I say good on him and his understanding dad. Well, maybe he is a good decent person and has a lot of love to give, gone to the big city and got lost ? There are a lot of really sad stories in the world also too from those of the farming background. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/farmers-wives-paying-a-terrible-price-for-progress-616209.html http://modernfarmer.com/2013/12/farmer-suicide/ http://www.tealeafnation.com/2013/02/for-millions-of-chinese-men-lonely-life-as-bare-branch-looms/ That is why I always also champion local farms too ! Buy local.. and not let the supermarket win. For goodness sake ! Build businesses to keep everyone actually employed. Also, if you truly want to be a proper professional, then find that professional route ! Not everybody is about mediocrity like the Spice Girls... That is why if you want to be a professional, then practice your craft and find those who can actually and literally help you. Go and be trained and fight for your skills and so forth. Look at Gary Barlow, at least he was serious, kept his head down and did his best and continued to fight for his right in the industry that he had chosen. What forms of prostitution are illegal? I can't think of any. A lot of activities around prostitution are illegal such as advertising and running a brothel, but selling yourself for sex is legal in this country. Point taken, although in my book running an escort agency is pimping/running a brothel by any other name. Perhaps then we need to apply moral values rather than simply legal parameters. There are some jobs, are there not, which (in the minds of most thinking people) are morally dubious? Being a sex worker is one of them.
