Its time to stop LEGAL AID

Recommended Posts

One refinement, maybe, though: a legally-aided party who wins, in a case involving property, should be compelled to pay the costs or to secure them by a registered charge. The latter does sometimes happen- but only sometimes. If damages are recovered, there might also be situations in which the costs need not fall on the Legal Aid Fund (effectively, taxpayers).

No it's not!.........everyone should be in benefit from their labour costs! but not in lots of cases to the tune that the legal profession are able to sting us for!

Simple then, dont use a lawyer and dont get stung.

Far more expensive to imprison the wrong people.

But why should justice be available only to those who can buy it?

what about Magna Carter ( ;) ) did she die in vain?

The principle of justice being available to all, regardless of social status and monetary wealth, has been enshrined since the days of King John.

Try not to be such a ********!...........my view is related to to fees charged by the legal profession! In lots of cases the fee charged bears no relation to a set hourly fee, but more relation to how long a case can be spun out, whilst observing the cut of the clients jib!....................C'mon we all know it's true!

Make solicitors available for everyone free like duty solicitors and channel legal aid money elsewhere more worth while..... its a fact of life that innocent people go to jail and guilty people walk free eg Ian Bradey thousands spent on him and what for should have just hung him!

So do you work for free!!!!.

The topic was about legal aid lawyers. They have to justify their fees to the legal aid board. How much do you think legal cases cost? Legal aid work is already shunned by most of the legal profession because the fees are very poor. Its either worth having access to decent legal representation or it is not. If you think the pay is that great then why not become one yourself?

Back to the OPs main idea that we scrap legal aid. The result would be that anyone accused would have no access to legal advice, which would ofc lead to more miscarriages of justice. Be interesting to hear what the ops solution is. Maybe Mossdog can help him.
