qwert
I'm planning to install a four by eight meter cabin in my garden and wondered roughly what it would cost to have a concrete base put down at that size, maybe a little bigger to be on the safe side. The ground where its going is a rough grassy area, I want to keep any soil removed so nothing to dispose of really. There's about 10 inches of soil before you hit a bed of clay (if that helps. I intend to have a turf or wildflower roof so there is this extra wright to consider. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what it would cost and/or recommend somebody (that wont rip me off)to get a quote, thanks.
mattaboy
your going to need 100mm subbase. Hopkinsons waste do loose MOT type 1 for ~£15/tonne for 150mm base you'll need 4.8m3 of concrete and budget for about £70/£80/m3 for a ready mix company to provide the concrete. Then you'll be looking at labour on top of that, probably looking at 2 days man plus mini digger @£150/160day HTH

salsafan
I have worked for them before, so I know that they provide this kind of mix by standard strength. Basically you can trust their mix. http://www.concrete2you.com/ Can use it as a quote to compete against another company with. These days I do not trust the builders in Sheffield all that much unless someone can really show me their quality and workmanship.

I've just come across these grids you fill with pea gravel, an alternative to a concrete base and claims to be a fraction of the price. http://www.simplygardenbuildings.co.uk/probase-shed-base-foundation-579-special-offer-9222-p.asp Think I'll go for this option. Anyone tried it?
