pip232
My husband is trying to find a replacement engine for his diesel Renault Megane Cabriolet. He wants to buy a second hand engine because he can't afford a new/reconditioned one. the problem is that there are a lot of liars out there and there is no way of knowing who they are. so far, he has not been able to verify the mileage claimed on most occasions, although he has found out the mileage was inaccurate (way too low) twice. We have decided the best way to buy an engine would be from a Renault Megane Cabriolet owner, who was getting rid of his car as a write off. That way we could see the car and engine together and see what the mileage was. I'm posting this in the faint hope that someone who reads it could help us. I know its a faint hope, but I thought it was worth asking. Cheers.
GRUSS
To be honest it's the ONLY way to buy a secondhand engine.... Inspect and listen to it first in the car it's coming out of. Ensure the service book is stamped up etc Have you tried joining a renault forum?
alchresearch
This is a brilliant Renault forum: http://www.renaultforums.co.uk/ Other than that if you want a written off car you could try Motorhog in Doncaster or Copart. http://www.copart.co.uk/c2/home.html http://www.motorhog.co.uk/
sierraman
How old is the car? Swapping engines on a car such as this is quite a big undertaking, might just be as well f it's over 5-6 years old sticking it on eBay rather than wasting good money.
