adyfife Posted January 13, 2014 Share Posted January 13, 2014 i once did a quote for a really old lady for a fence, after measuring up i told her i would take it home, work it out and pop it in the post for her, the poor old dear then asked me ''shall i pay for it now'' i tried to explain to her that i hadn't worked it out yet and that it would be with her in a couple of days but she didn't understand. i asked her if she had any family to which she replied that she hadn't. all i could think of at the time was to tell her to get a friend to look at her quotes and advise her what to do. i never heard from her again but did wonder if someone came along and took advantage of her confused state Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They were born in a time when you could leave your door open for your neighbour to pop in and there was more trust. Different world, never mind a different era. People act so dodgy and you can often tell. Either they get super excited at the fact that they are about to con you, or that they fear that you will notice and is going to get conned. Normally you can see when someone lies. I used to challenge these people in the face and they would still deny things, even when you pointed it out. That is how much people are so "daring" these days. These days, I do not entertain them any more and just walk away. Sometimes it can be draining. If there is something wrong with people selling door to door without permission. Then inform the 101 team and at least get them to check things out.
