Why do men go shopping with women?

Recommended Posts

When Mrs 999 goes shopping i go out with the dogs up on the moors . I would never go shopping .

Peace and quiet walking the dogs or crowded shops with people with screaming kids everywhere . Its a no brainer .

I bet you find that handy.:hihi:

A supermarket is not like the car dodgems at the funfair.

It is if you dare park your trolley in the way of everyone and then swan off to find something or go and socialise with your friends :D

Only kidding. If someone leaves their trolley in an inappropriate place and I have to move it, I usually move it for them. Kind hearted person I am, I even throw a few extra goodies in their trolley too. Often than not, when they come back to their trolley, they are too stupid to notice it has moved, let alone there are extra groceries.

You both do a weekly shop with ONLY a couple of bags between you?

No. Not once a week.

A good time saving tip is to take stuff out of other people's trolleys to put in your own, when their backs are turned. This saves you having to actually look for stuff on the shelves yourself.

I do all the grocery shopping for the house, and also most of the cooking. My wife's not that good at either. She goes off at times to a place called The Christmas Tree Shop, which sells most of the junk that comes out of China at rock bottom prices. I never go with her, then wait a few weeks for her to dump it in the trash. Men are barely tolerated in such places, which suits me fine.

I don't enjoy shopping personally and I think i know why: in the majority, shops and products in them are not designed for me, particularly in supermarkets.

As a man I just want a pragmatic approach. I don't need ten different types of tomato, i just want a cheap option and a nice option. I also want space, supermarkets are claustrophobic and full of people that get in the way a lot. Finally, I want to not feel I am being conned, each time I go, I feel conned though, the bill is always higher than what I anticipated, it makes me angry and I don't forgive easily, so having to go again a week later frustrates me.

Online supermarket shopping was made for you!

If a trip to the supermarket is unavoidable, it makes perfect sense for one parent to stay at home and play with the kids/do housework, while the other shops efficiently. It is hard to make rational shopping decisions with a small bored child or two, or three, bleating and whingeing and wanting things. You end up spending more money than if you leave them at home. There comes a point with some kids where it is cheaper to pay a childminder than take them shopping with you, and certainly less stressful. Why are entire families dragged to shopping centres when most of them don't want to be there?

Going shopping with your parents should be something you are only allowed to do when you are in receipt of your own income and able to remain silent unless asked to speak.
