megalithic
You put a known weight on one side, 1kg/2kg etc etc which you should have a set of, the item you are weighing on the other. The slider adds a smaller amount of weight so you can measure accurately. It usually has a small "window" in it so you can see the amount you've added, or there may just be a pointer. markus19
ok The scale only came with 2x 50kg and 1x 100kg weights the slide goes up in kg so say i wanted to weigh 2kg would i need a 2kg weight on the end or can you just use the slide ? cgksheff
For 2kg you just use the slide. What is the maximum on the slide? 50kg? Use the slide for weights upto 50kg, then stick a 50kg weight on to weigh 51kg > 100kg.
markus19
i think it goes up to 10kg do you leave the weight hanger on or take everything off the end the slider does not seem to do anything
jfish1936
The Avery (East Africa) website shows a platform for the thing being weighed. Then there's an upright, with a pivoted arm at the top, on which the slider runs; at the end of the arm is a hanger onto which you can put more weights. These were common in clinics for weighing patients. if you weigh a bit more than 50 kg (or can catch someone that weight), set the slider to 0 (at the upright's end of the arm, get them to stand on the platform; the arm will go up. Hang a 50 kg weight on the end fitting; the arm may go down -- they weigh less than 50 kg. If the arm is still up, slide the slider out along it until the arm is neither up nor down. Your subject weighs 50 kg plus whatever mark the slider is on. what's the biggest number on the slider arm?
