50p Tax band for high earners - good idea or not?

Recommended Posts

Maybe not but on average public sector workers are paid more than their private sector counterparts, you must be one of the unlucky ones.

Nope I get paid at the rate for my grade and that's that! Unlucky? Like we get a say but that is a real example I posted so where you get the fact I get more money than a private sector equivalent not quite sure and it applies across the board.

We are quite simply not paid the going rate full stop!

Even top civil servants don't get anything like senior folks in the private sector e.g. energy supplier Chief execs - tho they are paid better than us plebs are :)

I didn't say you are paid more than your private sector counterpart, I said on average the public sector is paid more, and that extra comes to around £50 billion, which is about half the deficit. Quite simply public sector employees are paid more than the country can afford.

Thing is Ivanana we're not. I could give you loads more examples. I get paid sweeties yet I saved you as a taxpayer £5mill last year - so are you saying we don;t earn our keep?'

The evidence points to the fact that you are incorrect, but I'd be interested to here how you saved the tax payer £5mill last year.

By challenging private sector suppliers during procurement processes. It's my job!

But one you seem to think is overpaid and unecessary!

And Ivanava that was just me. We save you the taxpayer hundreds of millions every year across the civil service because we are good at what we do. if we weren't there your tax bill would have to go up to make up the shortfall we save year on year - just doing our jobs!

So I can't agree that we're overpaid or unecessary.

In that case you could doing with moveing to the MOD and my local council, both of which pay well over the odds for everyday stuff.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) now says it is investigating newspaper claims that it paid £22.51 for light bulbs that can be bought for 65p elsewhere.

The MoD at first insisted the bulbs were highly specialised parts for a radar system, but later said the thrust of the Sun's story was correct.

I don't usually bother talking to you these days, ang. But you aren't getting away with that lie. Your biased study suggests about £6bn per annum, not £50bn.

If you follow the links within the article, you will find some interesting stats. They seem to suggest that public sector cleaners should be paid less, and managers should be paid more.

I'm off now. The floor is yours to spout more provocative, misleading nonsense.

You call it saving us money, I call it spending less of our money, and for the most part the public sector pays well over the odds for everything they buy.
