Npower..a bit of a tangle

Recommended Posts

Cheers annb3811, like you not bothered bout any compo and as you prob felt just want the matter closed, more concerned bout credit ratings and all that. Feel silly not looking into ombudsman before now it is in small print of bill as I've just discovered. Got a meeting for work tomorrow which involves a 3.5hr train ride, know what I will be doing en route now lol!

so glad we could help..i felt like i was banging my head against a brick wall...it was making me feel physically sick....sleep well tonight hun...theres nothing you can do right now...but from tomorrow it will get better :)

Oh yes beware anyone leaving NPower their systems are ridiculous, my automatic direct debit went out as usual and there was I thinking that was it but for some insane reason when you leave the bills get split and their is a "paper" bill to be settled except it's an online "paper" bill which nobody looks for, I ended up with a red final demand letter and hadn't a clue why. Moral of these stories, stay away from NPower.

with out being too long winded n explaining my case fully i went through a very similar experience with npower.....long story short i went to ombusman and things went very quickly from then on ...in my favour

I wouldnt bother with npower from now on hun...go straight to ombusman....i even got compensation awarded which i did notask for

I don't think the Ombudsman will take up the case unless you have been through Npower's complaints procedure.

this is true, you have to go straight to the company yourself first, lodge an official complaint and then seek the ombudsman's advise.

Thanks in advance for any help provided
Send two letters, both by recorded delivery.

1 to NPower, based on andysm's post/info above (which is v.good advice). Enclose copy of below letter to debt collection agency.

1 to NPower's debt collection agency, contesting the debt. Enclose copy of NPower letter above.

See this old thread on a different Forum, for some letter templates (post #52) ;)

Head the letter to NPower "without prejudice save as to costs"

In the letter to NPower, after the info and details:

(i) ask for your approx. £100 with interest in the closing paragraph;

(ii) give them 15 days from date of your letter to comply, otherwise you will then have no choice but to consider filing claim for the above monies owed, plus your phone charges, wasted time and stress which their failing systems and procedures have caused needlessly; and

(iii) reserve your rights.

I didnt write any letters to npower before it was taken on by the ombusman...maybe rules have changed but you could phone them for advice that wont do any harm to your case and you would know for sure what you need to do

i may be wrong but if you have made an official verbal complaint then you can take it to the ombudsman. sounds to me that that is what you have to do now. if the complaint if more than 3 months old (i think) then they will look at it. i never wrote an offical letter of complaint to e-on but did verbally complain and the ombudsman took my case on.

good luck
