Can an unused, brand new oven become damaged if kept in storage?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to buy a new double oven. The one I want is £450 in John Lewis and pretty much the same price with all stockists. I've just searched on ebay and someone in Worksop is selling the exact same one for less than half the price claiming it to be brand new,

John Lewis are a good store, but they do charge higher prices, so half the price second hand is not that cheap.

I bought a cooker for £15 last week, some dont sell at all. It may be much easier to sell on ebay, and let someone else collect it.

The chap that I bought my cooker from, waiting until I arrived, and then showed me all the working and none working parts. You need to look at their feedback, if its not 100% or very close then dont buy.

I just need to wire my cooker to the electric point, and then its job done. All for £20

Unless they can wire it all in and test it I don't know how they could give such a guarantee.

All they could do is sell it as "new, unopened, presumed to be working".

Or "sold as seen", "possibly not working" etc. and if so should command a commensurate price.

I'd be a bit suspicious if he has disposed of the original receipt, he must have intended using it at some stage, even new products can fail in the first 12 months.

If you decide to go ahead I would ask if he is prepared to give you a signed receipt stating that it's unused and in good working order.

actually we brought our oven last year and I couldn't tell you where it came from lol People do have bad memories I am forgetful and I often don't keep my own receipts
