mickey finn
Watch “The men who stare at goats” instead then. That’s how I spent this snowy afternoon. A very odd, but compelling film. Jon Ronson’s books are worth a read too. Wow, I've never heard of that but checked up and it has a proper big time cast, will give it a go. The Joker
No Good Deed 6.5/10 Im not entirely happy with Idris Elba being a baddie, but its a watchable enough thriller. I've just watched 'The Mountain Between Us', with the fabulous Idris Elba & Kate Winslett. It's about a random couple who are thrown together as a result of a plane crash. I wouldn't have necessarily put the two of them together but it's superbly acted by both of the above, (there's only about 4 characters & a dog in the plot), but I was crying buckets at the end. I'd have to give it a 10/10. It's filmed in beautiful British Columbia too, which is one of my favourite parts of the world. I prefer it when Idris Elba plays Idris Elba (as he did in Luther) but I'll try to watch both of these.
Ontarian1981
The French Connection - 8/10 A classic. Gene Hackman at his best. "Did you ever pick your feet in Poughkeepsie?" Loved the chase with Gene in the Santa Claus outfit LOL.
top4718
Sid And Nancy - 7/10 - Gary Oldman plays tragic punk rocker Sid Vicious in this 80's biopic, great film with Ed Tudor-Pole not really convincing as Johnny Rotten letting the side down. Gary Oldman was brilliant, what else is new, but I thought the film was very dark and depressing, which was exactly the point, I suppose. Agree with your rating, mainly because of Oldman. ---------- Post added 13-02-2018 at 19:26 ---------- Gary Oldman was brilliant, what else is new, but I thought the film was very dark and depressing, which was exactly the point, I suppose. Anybody who thinks Tom Cruise can't act, can't have seen this performance.

Phanerothyme
Grand Budapest Hotel - 8/10. 2nd viewing. Somehow it reminds me of the exquisite little pastries that play such a crucial role in the film itself. A light and fluffy confection, elaborate, beautiful & sweet. And over too quickly. Yum. Naive
Wow, I've never heard of that but checked up and it has a proper big time cast, will give it a go. Put your weird head on first:) If you like it, have a read of “Them - Adventures with Extremists” afterwards.
wearysmith
Phantom Thread: No no no. I realise I’m probably swimming against the tide here, but I thought it was rubbish. Arse-numblingly, excruciatingly, dull. 2 hours of my life wasted. The preview clips, I liked. Great cast too. Daniel Day-Lewis is usually worth the admission price, and any flick with Lesley Manville, Julia Davis and Gina McKee in has to be worth a watch, right? Wrong! Tedious. Synopsis: Unpleasant elderly dressmaker gets weird with needy hotel waitress. It’s a ‘miss’.
apelike
I am Legend with the alternate ending. 8/10 Seen the original and thought it OK if not predictable but this has a much better ending so upped the rating a tad.
