The Pebble and the boy.

Not exactly a follow on to Quadrophenia, but a fair shot at it.

Certainly better than the woeful superposed follow on  'To be some one'.

Lots of references to the original film but doesn't take itself as serious.

Brief synopsis.

Boy looses Dad,

Boy takes Dad's ashes down to Brighton on Dad's mirror bedecked Lambretta.

Meets a Floosie on the way,

Comic, near enough a 'road trip' movie.

Don't expect too much from it, but worth watching.   6.7/10

If you like the smell of two stroke in the morning this is the film for you😱.

 Keep safe 8).

Can yer still buy Lambretta's for £20 ?

I like Quadrophenia but had no idea this film was around, I'll give it a go.

Last night in Soho.

Seen very little mention of this on the thread. I reckon it's the best film I've seen all year. Happily give it a solid 10/10.

A trainee fashion designer sees images of a model-singer from the 60s.
One of the main female leads is Anya Taylor-Joy (the lass we all enjoyed so much in The Queen's Gambit) and there's three giants from the 60s; Terence Stamp. Rita Tushingham and Diana Rigg, all turning in very believable performances.

As above. & Thank you Wearysmith  🧐

I could only wax lyrical about this film, if  I (We) wasn't (weren't) so shell shocked from the experience of having just  watching the thing.

Definite 10+/10.

Very Clever,  Expertly done Exceptional film.

Fast paced, edge of the seat, psychological thriller as psychological thrillers should be made.

Lets hope we get a run of similar quality films on the back of this one.

Fully recommend.

Enjoy 8)

Watched it today and loved it. I’ve got a really short attention span but never picked up my phone once, wasn’t even tempted.

My favourite film from the last 12 months was Promising Young Woman, I’ve got to say this was on a par with that for me.
Brilliant soundtrack too.

9/10

Only a 9 nikki!

Must have been better than that .

I didn't  get to rant once  over some dodgy scenario  or plotline :hihi:.

(Spoiler alert if you haven't watched it yet)

The Taxi's pulling up sharp got me both times though .

Keep safe 8).

The only reason I didn’t give it a 10/10 is I enjoyed the first half slightly more than I did the second.

Great film tho, clever, well acted, gripping, and as I said, fab soundtrack.

No probs.

I'd forgotten about 'Promising young women' (something Padders is pretty good at) (or was till the restraining orders) .

Excellent film.

Keep safe 8).

I concur. The soundtrack is stunning. After seeing the flick a 2nd time I hit Amazon. Gutted to learn there is no CD release.

Tomorrow we're at the 10 o'clock screening of the new Ghostbusters flick. Not sure I'll be handing out 10s for that....but we shall see.

I’ve just rewatched Incident in a Ghostland.

One of my favourite out and out horrors, and in my opinion one of the best of the last few years.

Written and directed by the brilliant Pascal Laugier, its suspenseful, intense, disturbing and fast paced, there’s never a dull moment.

The leading actresses are great, it’s such a shame a horrible accident marred the filming of this, and lead to some people saying the film should never have been completed at all.

9/10

God on trial. 2008.

Set in one camp hut with an excellent cast.

God is put on trial (in his absence) by new arrivals at Auschwitz.

I'm going to say, this should be on the curriculum of schools everywhere.

Clever scenario of Jewish lawyer taking arguments from both sides why has God forsaken the inmates facing the possibility of immanent death against those who think its God's ultimate plan (?).

Apart from the place and the inmates issued clothing being way to clean, I could find nothing wrong with the film.

You have to be prepared listen to the dialogue and not to be distracted, but for me, well worth it.

Not the same type of film as 'Boy in the striped pyjamas', but just as hard hitting in different ways.

Fully recommended 8+/10.

cast list includes.

Joseph Alkin - game of thrones.

Dominic Cooper - Preacher.

Lorcan Cranitch - Bloodlands, etc, etc, etc.

Stephen Dillane - Game of thrones, Alex Rider etc, etc, etc.

Rupert Graves - War of the worlds, Sherlock, Last tango in Halifax, etc.

Eddie Maran - (come a long way from) Grange Hill . Ridley Rd.

Jack Shepherd - Wycliffe, etc, etc, etc.

+ others.

Keep safe 8)
