HighStorrs
We are very excited to be putting on Grease at the Crucible theatre this summer, and have recently remembered that in 1976 Olivia Newton John opened our school fete. We're now trying to get together everyone's memories, stories and photos if we can get them to inspire the cast with stories of 'Sandy' visiting High Storrs! Can anyone help us? Joe Totale
Yes, I was there. Shame about all the nut-job teachers that managed to keep a job there; back slaps, chair legs and rubber piping for punishment...those were the days But that aside, it was a bit of a coup getting a rather sexy Aussie singer! Vast sexual improvement on the Glaswegian hardliner Socialist who turned up a few years earlier. Edited February 11, 2014 by Joe Totale

Our teacher used to throw a boomerang shaped coat hanger at you, don't think he ever stepped more than a meter from his desk..it always came back. Powerage
Yes I do, I got her autograph but not sure if I still have it. I could have sworn it was earlier than 1976 though, strange how your memory plays tricks.
qazitory
Grease didn't come out until 1978.....

I had at least two teachers that were very handy with the 'X' marked plimsoll. On a separate issue. Can anyone recall Mr Tim Mardell caning anyone. I can recall one pupil who was caned by him (for an obviously very serious offence), but can anyone else remember him caning anyone.
Hopman
I think it was 1974, shortly after she'd been the representative in the Eurovision Song Contest. It would not have been after Grease as that film was such a success, there would have been no need for her to tour to promote it.

Ive had the dubious honour of being caned by Sparky a few times!! Also by "Doc" Hartley!! One of them caned your hands & the other preferred on the butt but I don't recall who preferred what!!! Nutjob teachers! Nutjob kids!! Fresh country air!!! Explosive combination!!! I miss those days!!! And lets not forget the fights with Silverdale!!! Or them taking our buses off!!! Ousetunes
Just to be pedantic, but ONJ was born in Cambridge, England, emigrating down under when she was 6 years old.
