Lots of people put time and effort into doing things for free, it's called voluntarism - David Cameron tried to re brand it as "the Big Society". He did absolutely nothing for the town. so you will know that for most of that time we had a conservative government - what exactly do you expect an opposition mp to do? what did you ask him to do? None of them has the slightest idea as to what life is like for the people that they pretend to represent, they spend their lives talking the talk while at the same looking down from the lofty position that they were born into and never leave behind. There is no longer a party that truly represents the working[ and non working ]classes any longer and for New Labour:rolleyes: to pretend to be that party is the biggest deceit possible. I don't disagree that the Labour Party are, and have been ersatz socialists, have been for a long time. Though I feel this is less to do with the background of their most prominent MPs and cabinet, more to do with their intent and belief system. The most progressive and social democratic British government of the 20th Century was headed by an ex public schoolboy, Clement Attlee. Tony Blair and his cronies are is his shadow.
