WORLD CHAMPION JOHN BOY CLAIMS THE 2ND PROJECTDARTS MASTERS SERIES AT RILEY'S

 

 

 

Well the field increased slightly but the calibre well that went through the roof.............

 

The 2nd Projectdarts Sheffield darts masters series in association with Riley's took place at Riley's in Sheffield Hunters Bar and it was a terrific turnout and although a few problems with the wipe boards it was a excellent tournament.

 

11 prelim matches took place with a few interesting ties...

 

PRELIM

 

Yorkshire starlet Julie White got a Nelson team mate in Mick Ryall and although rattling in a 180 just failed to get home against Mick going down 3-1.Ryan Goffin and Brian Lewis looked the pick of the round and it did not disappoint as Ryan went through 3-1.Jason Cole had to fend off team mate Bob Pinder who was looking to make a bigger impact this time round and started off in fine style taking advantage of Jasons missed doubles to go through 3-0 and we have to mention the youngest player in the comp Jacob Turnbull going down to Simon Birkett.

1st ROUND

 

The first round proper Kev Rimmer proved just what quality he has with a fine display to put out good player Daz Layden 3-1,wards champion Roger Read played a solid game but was just outshone by former world champion John Walton.Billy Wragg made his way into round 2 with a 3-1 victory as did Frazer Pickering.Brendan Marren runeer up last time got through comfy 3-0 as did Daz Johnson.Carl Wilkinson made quick work of his opponent and Ian Cook did the same.PDC tour card holder Matt Padgett swiftly moved past Joel Burkhill to book his place in round two but the shock of the round was masters series winner Steve Rumble going down 3-2 to Lester Bowers.

2ND ROUND.....

 

in the 2nd round Pdc player Daz Weaver made light work of Jimmy Chowninski with a 3-0 victory and Kev Rimmer did the same with Nigel Waldsford.Frazer Pickering set up a match with John Walton as both went through to the next round and Carl Moorhouse battled his way through with a fine win over Paul Beck.Brendan Marren went through at the expense of billy wragg and Pete Roebuck got through over John Bowler in a very tight game 3-2.Carl Wilkinson and Ian Cook could have both won but it was Carl getting the winning double in a very close 3-2 win.John Daniels made swift work of his opponent 3-0 and Matt Padgett squeezed through against Steve Briggs.

3RD ROUND............

 

Kev Rimmer gave Daz Weaver a hard game but it was the man from Doncaster going through 3-1 and John Walton continued to dominate his games winning 3-0 yet again over a solid playing Frazer Pickering.Chris Gill and Carl Moorehouse had the game of the round as Chris hitting a some high scores just went through 3-2.Brendan Marren went through 3-1 over Rich Beck and it was Daz Johnson doing the same against fellow PDC star Pete Roebuck.Team mates John Daniels and Carl Wilkinson had a tussle but the better finishing Carl Wilkinson who hit the double to go through.Matt Padgett had another 3-2 victory over Chris Cooper and Bob Pinder moved into the last 8 with victory over Mick Ryall

John Walton and Daz Weaver had a close game but it was johnboy just coming out on top and Chris Gill had too much for Brendan Marren going through 3-0.Carl Wilkinson with a few 180's got through 3-1 over Daz Johnson and Matt Padgets run came to an end as Bob Pinder got through to the semi finals with a smooth 3-2 victory

SEMI FINALS..............

 

John Walton and Chris Gill had a humdinger but it was the former world champion who just edged out his fellow Yorkshireman 3-2 and Bob Pinder failed to make it 2-2 in legs and was punished has Wilkies faultless display continued again hitting the red bit for fun including a 180.

Carl went came from 1-0 down to go 2-1 up and was sitting on the double but for John to hit a magnificent 160 checkout to level the game and in the decider Carl was left thinking he could have taken it missing three vital darts to win but the England and Yorkshire star John Walton(pictured with 1st masters winner Steve Rumble)was red hot today and made him pay winning the deciding leg to take the spoils and with it the 10 points for winning the 2nd Sheffield darts masters.
