£300,000 a WEEK. An insult to the working man?

Recommended Posts

Hardly. How many people do you know that earn a fraction of that?

Do you mean he's 'working class?'

How is it an insult to the working man, is he not a working man? He goes to work just like ordinary people do, his wage may be extraordinary but that is because he extraordinarily talented (people who don't like him as a person or don't like Man Utd may disagree but I don't think the people who run man Utd are stupid). He makes more money than he costs for his employers otherwise they wouldn't pay him. I seriously can't fathom your argument.

. There are women in tea fields in India whining on how rich white women in England have pensions, indoor plumbing and don't have to work till they die.

Exactly, compared to many on this planet we are as rich to them as Rooney is to us.

Well said both of you.

Its all relative. There are people in the far east earning a couple of pounds a day for their work. A so called "low income" minimum wage worker here who then receives entitlement to our state funded top up and housing support would look like a millionaire to someone else.

All this "working man" nonesense. What the hell is a working man supposed to be anyway. Anybody who works could be a "working man" whether you earn 12k or 750k a year. Its a sub class which is seen to have developed a chip on its own shoulder. Being a man of simple means is seen as a state we should all target to be.

Horse crap.

Everyone should be encouraged to work hard and be the best they can possibly be in any field. If you are a order picker, aim to end your career as a manager. If you are a cleaner aim to end your career as a head housekeeper. If you are a tradesman aim to be the best and most successful man you can be. If you are an accademic aim to end your career as the Chief and Leader of your chosen profession. Obviously not everyone can or will reach that, but the drive and determination to be the highest level you can possibly get to should always be there.

That should never be frowned upon and nobody who is from a modest background should ever be made to feel that their hard earned success and wealth is ever an insult to their roots.

Attitudes like that and the clear jelousy (deny all you want you people. You know that is the root of this) that comes with it should be stamped out.

A man or women from a modest upbringing reaching the top of their professional and earning the big bucks should ALWAYS be seen as a positive.

I said earlier, Rooney is not a privileged man. He was not born into wealth. He was not handed his life on a silver plate. He has nothing to be ashamed of just because he became a success.

20 years ago people were encouraged to be a success. What the hell is going on now. No wonder people fester in thier front rooms all wanting to be the next Gallagher clan.

Time for more working class done good heroes like Rooney and less of the poverty porn pushers ala Jeremy Kyle me thinks.

this is the sort of garbage that has put football in the state that its in.(I blame the tattoo king david for starting this)

£500 quid a week ,bonus's for a win or a goal plus the use of the club van every second weekend if they win a away game, would be more than enough for somebody with an head like a potato and a intelect to match,

Praise indeed! But he's not the only one that's raking it in due to his fame:

Marriage and children

She met her future husband, Wayne Rooney, at the age of 12 in the Liverpool suburb of Croxteth. They began a relationship at the age of 16, after they left secondary school. Wayne's mother, Jeanette, worked as a part-time cleaner at St John Bosco Arts College, the Catholic secondary school Coleen attended.[10]

Their wedding took place in Portofino, Italy on 12 June 2008. The couple were paid a reported £2.5 million by Britain's OK! magazine for exclusive wedding information and pictures.[11] The couple, dubbed Wayleen,[12] moved into a new £1.3m mansion in Formby. They currently live in Prestbury, Cheshire, in a £4 million Neo-Georgian mega mansion, which has an indoor swimming pool, sweeping staircase, jacuzzi and gold-plated taps.[13]

On 2 November 2009, Rooney gave birth to their first child, Kai Wayne Rooney. On 10 October 2012, she announced that she was expecting their second child. On 21 May 2013, Rooney gave birth to Klay Anthony Rooney.

Re-read earlier posts that I and others have paid regarding his worth. If you made your company hundreds of millions of pounds a year, would you be satisfied with £500 per week? If you are happy with that percentage of return PM me and I will employ you.

Can you also explain why you think David Beckham "started this" please?

I am intrigued by your last line. Do you think then that someones perceived (by you?) attractiveness should have an impact on the money they get paid?

I agree !

He kicks a football around for 90 minutes per week !

Get a grip man (supertramp)

If you think a premiership footballers life consists of kicking a football about for 90 minutes a week, you're mistaken.

You might be jealous of the fact that he's getting paid extraordinary amounts of money for something he loves, but that's your problem, not his.

Whether you like Rooney or not, he's a top premiership player, which makes him extraordinarily talented. .......This is coming from a Liverpool fan!!

Expenses only.

All sport should be amateur, and for the love of it.

........Why???

Quite. If someone is prepared to pay him that much for his services, he is quite obviously worth it. It just pathetic jealousy from the green eyed here and elsewhere.
