Called in for the first time last night and enjoyed 6/7 pints of the Harvest...a blonde ale I cannot remember not because it wasnt any good but I dont usually drink that many....hic!

Great pub, quite a few in for the quiz and a good atmosphere, I will be dropping in as I have a new puppy and they allow dogs in.....bonus

If they allow in the folk who drink 6/7 pints I'll probably give it a miss.

That'll be just about every pub excluded for you then. Also, why? Do you keep detailed notes of the number of drinks people have along with your perception of their behaviour? Does the same rule apply for a 3.6% beer as for a 6% beer?

Who put roosterboost in charge of what people can drink?

I can spend my money how I see fit, maybe I drank 6/7 pints because I was enjoying myself in good company after working hard all day........I bid everyone good night and walked home smiling....no problem at all. Oh wait why am I justifying myself to you with the narrow mind!

  • 3 weeks later...

As the new manager of the Castle can I say that as long as people are friendly and respect everyone else in the pub and surrounding area, then anyone's welcome...5 pints, 10 pints or lime and soda. As we like to say "at The Castle, there are no strangers...just friends you haven't met yet

Craig.... you don't appear to have plugged the fact you now do food every lunchtime (12-2) Tuesday to Sunday and every evening (5-8 ) Tuesday to Saturday....
In it's pomp the Castle thrived on it's food and was packed every night. Get the food upto a decent standard and get it plugged!

Thanks Andy you're quite right! hiding our light under a bushell ain't gonna help.

So, here goes:

All our food is home cooked and features locally sourced and reared ingredients. Website and menu will be up soon.

We have food Tues - Fri 12.00 till 2.00 and 5.00 till 8.00

Saturday food is 12.00 till 8.00

Sunday Lunch is a speciality featuring rare breed beef and pork or half a chicken and all the trimmings and runs from 12.00 till 3.00

Fridays will be fish night

Live bands on first Saturday of every month and finally....for now

The 3 Valleys beer festival bus will be stopping in our car park en route all day on the 7th June. We'll be either doing a barbie for fast food if the weather's good or chilli and rice, curry and rice etc if the weather's not so good

Phew

Lovely pub Craig, It was the first pub that I had a legal drink in :) many years ago, I was a good friend of the Childs family that lived down the drive so was a regular for a good many years. I will try and get down soon to try your food out

Thanks for that. We're in love with it already which always helps. Marie is a local girl anyway and here first job 20 years ago was here along with her mum. Her mum's now come to work for us here so it really is full circle!
