If you are a foodie, there is a great hotel called Four Seasons in Perthshire (put that in Google for the site) that is in a great location with excellent food. If you want to stay nearer, there are some excellent places to go in the Lowlands as well, Berwick upon Tweed (ok, just England) is much overlooked for weekends away for example.
