Perhaps you mean a creature that is adapted for dry land cannot survive under water. I'm a land creature, I existed underwater yesterday and I didn't drown. I presumed that the "land creature" you were referring to was not human, the latter can only survive more than a few minutes under water unless he uses artificial breathing apparatus. I'm not really sure what flaw in the logic you mean. Have got to go out now to weld gate back on as some supernatural force has blown it off.
