GLASGOWOODS
Been on the BBC news all day. Child care may be as expensive as your monthly mortgage. What's the solution?
gluedtopc
I don't know the solution, but the report is true, my Daughters Nursery fees for her 2 year old were over£800 per month. Now he, 3 I think they get 15 hours a week paid for.

Does your daughter get some kind of invoice/breakdown of how her money is spent and what on?
gluedtopc
It certainly is a lot, but you'll find that £200 per week is the going rate these days( she lives in Leeds) I think Childminders cost much less. As far as I know there is no breakdown of costs. Cheers.

Ours is around the same and totally worth every penny. Posted from Sheffieldforum.co.uk App for Android
gluedtopc
Yes, as I posted, it's the going rate. No wonder some people would rather pack up work than pay the fees!

Looking at your breakdown Moosey and I agree with you. It doesn't seem that bad. But, hold on! What if you have a few kids? Could get real expensive. Maybe other forummers will disagree. dreamgems
I think think the average for Sheffield is £70 a day
JFKvsNixon
Ours is £352 per month for 2 days. That is from 8AM until 5PM though.

Like you say though two would get seriously costly! It's certainly affected our decision on having another. The average around here goes from 25 to 40 quid a day. We looked at lots when choosing and that was the general price. Posted from Sheffieldforum.co.uk App for Android
