Some of the epesodes of Pheonix Nights were some of the best sitcoms of recent years. I also like I'm Alan Partridge, but thought the first series was better than the second. I thought it deserved a better ranking in the recent best sitcom poll than it received (about numer 41 I think) especially considering some of the ones which came above it. Why were any Carla Lane shows even in this, do they count as comedy? I have yet to get one laugh out of her. Still we all have our own opinions and comedy is very much a matter of personal taste.
