Justcaring
I wouldn't ignore it perhaps best to explain the situation and send a copy of your blue badge, I'm presuming there are not prominent notices re parking if you didn't see them, I would mention this also. There is a template letter online and do not sign it just print your name

Appealed twice but rejected even though I sent photos of battery being changed. Many people have said ignore all letters and don't pay. others say VCS do take people to court? Has anyone been taken to court by VCS? Thanks for any advice ---------- Post added 04-12-2016 at 08:20 ---------- Because of flat battery went over 2 hr time period. Got fine letter through post. I THINK what you have to ask yourself is, who's fault was it the battery went flat .(if they take you to court) Also read this if you have the time. https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=do+VCS+take+people+to+court Edited December 4, 2016 by kidley
marketman
VCS have issued me with court papers, initially it was for £600, but they are claiming just over £900 now. they issued me with tickets for a parking space that I paid for, but 1 month they never sent the permit. ( they didn't even know they had issued permits before and after to same vehicle) Just hope now that I can get my legal costs back when we get to court

You are likely to win if you go about it in the correct manner, but also very likely to lose if you follow the wrong advice. Have a look at Parking Prankster and MSE as well. Don't forget also that when you win, you should be entitled to expenses, and also, depending on how VCS applied for your details from the DVLA, they may be in breach of the Data Communications act, in which case you may be able to counter sue them (I think £250 is about the norm). You must be well prepared, just have a look at some of the seemingly odd decisions coming from the bench at Skipton of late. RJRB
Flora Street Retail Park Yes this is another parking issue having got a £60/£100 fine for parking outside of a marked bay. I know I've done the crime etc.etc.and I've paid the fine to Vehicle Control Services Ltd. However I'm posting this in the hope of warning some others and also to express my belief that this is a total scam. The area in question is adjacent to the Iceland loading area which is clearly marked with no parking road markings. There is then an area sufficient for perhaps 6 cars to park without any obstruction to any vehicle which has no markings at all. The only technicality is that anyone parking here is not within a marked bay. The operators must be reaping in hundreds of pounds a day particularly at the moment when parking is at a premium. The wardens appear at regular intervals,I suspect every hour,to scoop another batch of cars. It's just a money making racket and I have written to VCS Ltd,as well as the managers of Home Bargains,Aldi and Iceland. I don't expect any response from VCS Ltd,but I hope the shops realise that it is their customers that are getting fleeced. All I ask is that this area is either clearly marked as a no parking area,or more sensibly that parking bays are created in this space to increase the capacity of a busy car park. Entirely your choice of course, but seeking informed advice before paying might have been prudent. There are legitimate ways out from supporting these parasites. Have a read here, but I don't know anything about the efficacy or legitimacy of ParkingTicketAppeals or of ParkingCowboys; http://www.parkingcowboys.co.uk/excel-parking-vehicle-control-services/ Edited December 18, 2016 by peak4
