Billinge
Has anyone managed to get their Automatic PSV bus drivers licence upgraded to include manual as well? I have emailed the DVLA but they haven't replied and I can't find anything on the internet about it.
Flying Duck
Do you not have to take a test in a manual for that?
Billinge
No, it's an EU ruling. If you originally took your test in a manual vehicle you can have the licence upgraded, as these days all bus drivers just get automatic licences when they pass the test
El Cid
If you are a bus driver with a 106 code attached to your PCV category, and you need to drive minibuses with manual gearbox/transmissions under a PCV licence category, you will have to take an additional D1 practical driving test. At least that is what the web site from the link below says, maybe its out of date? http://www.minibuswebsite.com/htm/pcv_auto.htm
gimp27
This one is easy. Just do a HGV class 2 test, then your auto bus licence will be upgraded to a manual licence, plus you have the HGV as a back up.
Billinge
Its a new law that's been passed - in February, I think. Do you know how much the HGV or the D1 test cost?
El Cid
Its a new law that's been passed - in February, I think. No one seems to have heard of this law, and neither does google, where did you read it?
Billinge
I think that is because its so new. If you type pcv upgrade into google and scroll down you will find the government consultation on it (which has now closed). I have just read that all the changes they are planning will be in place by the end of March 2014, so maybe I'm being a bit premature. An employer at a coach company told me about it so I read the government paper on it via gov.uk - I think this is the right link if you're interested. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/motorcycle-lorry-and-bus-driving-licences-and-driving-test-rules
