Malaysian airlines plane missing

Recommended Posts

Is it not funny you can find a £39.99 phone switched off gone missing but can't find a multi million pound plane!?!?!? Maybe they should have an android phone !

not being argumentative but it's true!

It's not. You can't locate a phone at sea, or out of range of a mobile connection, which is the vast majority of the planet.

Furthermore, we know exactly where it was when it disappeared, but we don't know what happened to it after then. It could have done anything from been flown directly down to being forced to go land on some uninhabited island in the Philippines. It had enough fuel to carry on flying for at least five hours after it disappeared, and could potentially be anywhere in that range.

And just like a mobile phone - if you want to stop it being located, you can just disconnect the power. It's possible to turn off all the radio equipment on a 777 from the cabin, without special tools - if you know what to do, and you don't get stopped.

Something bad has happened obviously .... Not trying to sound argumentative , but have you seen the gadget show? they went to the most remote part of the planet with android and got a signal! ... Why cant a multi million pound airplane not do that?

Could the android device pick up a signal after it was hit with a hammer?

It obviously wasn't that remote then.

You can't track any mobile phone, android or otherwise if there's no power to the phone or it isn't in range of a signal. There's plenty of parts of the UK alone where you can't get a phone signal, let alone the really remote parts of the planet.

Large passenger aircraft on the other hand have constant access to satellite communications, which were working on this flight up until the same point it stopped responding to ground based signals.

It did, up until the point it stopped working or was tampered with. Exactly the same as with a mobile phone.

If it was as simple as fitting android to the aircraft, don't you think the authorities would have just tracked some of the mobile phones on board? Unless you agree that putting them at least 100 miles off the coast, under 50m of water might make them stop working too?

yes it does seem strange because to set off the mayday signal you just have to press one button in the cockpit ,as for the signal from the transponders (black box) the only way that can be turned off is by someone in the cockpit.

Listen .. I have absolutely no idea. I hope you dont think I am belittling the seriousness of this. It's a terrible thing for their families. I just find it frustrating that it was not as simple as it looks to find them..... It was slow and cumbersome. multi million pound technology?!?! Hmmm It's sad! It's almost like two tin cans with string!
