Mr Clowning
I remember reading somewhere that the people in this country who were incarcerated but later found not guilty had rent and board deducted from their compensation. That must sting. Unless they were MP's where they could claim it back as a second home
ivanava
I'll ignore the first comment. I'm not going to have anybody say that I don't care about the victims and families of such crimes. But if you had the death penalty for the crimes you describe then innocent people would not just be locked up, innocent people would be executed. You shouldn't allow your anger to cloud that possibility. Innocent people are already murdered and raped because we don't execute murderers and rapists. In fact more innocent people are murdered and raped by convicted murderers and rapists than the amount of innocent people that have ever been executed by the state. That is a really poor argument for justifying the execution of innocent people.
ivanava
That is a really poor argument for justifying the execution of innocent people. You only think that because it counters your argument, if you want to save innocent lives then more will be saved by killing murderers. Your way of doing things just leaves innocent people locked up for a very long time, whilst more innocent people are killed by the convicted criminals released from prison. The first innocent person that's convicted and killed will make the state the murderer, what then ? do we kill the judge ?

Executing killers doesn't lower murder rates.

We don't lock judges up for imprisoning innocent people, so there would be no need to kill them if someone that is executed turns out to be innocent. ---------- Post added 13-03-2014 at 22:17 ---------- Show us the numbers then so we can see the scale of the problem and judge your proposal. How many murders go on to murder again? More than the amount of innocent people found guilty of murder.
