Pkingy
Was woken up this morning at 1.00 am by birdsong in the trees opposite. This lasted until 3.00 am then it all went quiet again. Is this normal behaviour?
El Cid
I normally sleep with the curtains open, so I wake up when it gets light.

Is this normal behaviour? It might have had a good night on the town, what was it singing, anything we know.
Halibut
Normal for some species. According to this piece I'd say it was pretty likely you herad a robin.http://www.rspb.org.uk/advice/watchingbirds/behaviour/nocturnalsong.aspx

Perhaps it was doing that thing where they sing to use up energy, to shed weight, so they can fly. Or perhaps it was just a bit of a diva and was doing it to get attention.
