Itrytoplease
why should high earners subsidise scroungers ?? You have it the wrong way round, it's the poor that is going to subsidise the rich. Giving up to £2,000 to a family with two working parents for child care - No Way - Another reason not to vote Tory, and as Labour said it was "To little to late" I shall not be voting for them either. UKIP here we come. Are there food banks in this country, are library's closing, are pensioners being penalised - I could swear, you had the kids, stay home and look after them. JFKvsNixon
Is this being worked out by tax bands to save money on administration costs?

Penistone999
The Government have announced plans to provide a subsidy for childcare for families where both parents go out to work, providing neither parent earns over £150,000. Isn't that earnings threshold a bit high? Surely if both parents are on £150,000 they really don't need help with childcare. Why the hell should other taxpayers subsidise a couple earning £300,000 to get an au pair? The threshold should be much lower. Many families need both parents to work to make ends meet so the subsidy should be targeted at them, not given willy nilly to those who need it as well as those who don't. If the Government didn't fleece everyone for so much tax then families wouldn't need both parents to work to make ends meet and there would be no need for people to pay for child care. Perhaps it would if they actually paid their dues. Most people earning that kind of money are probably self-employed.

At least being self employed gives people the opportunity to be a little creative with the books . Why pay more in tax than you can get away with paying.
