Pound coins to be scrapped for new design

Recommended Posts

First, who forges pound coins anyway? If you were going to forge a coin (is it worth it?), surely you'd do the highest denomination one, i.e. £2. And they're not changing those, are they?

A £1 coin is very easy to forge. Its an old, simple design.

The £2 coin is newer, more complex and comprises of two different parts. It would cost more and take longer to forge, so its more cost effective and profitable to forge £1 coins.

Hate the design, hate the fact it's based on an antiquated currency.

Seems odd that they're being so innovative with the new £10 note but so lazy with the new £1 which will probably be around until the death of physical money in a few decades.

The £1 coin is easy to replicate. They essentially look like chocolate money.

The £2 coin has the nickle in the middle which makes it harder to forge.

The new coin's shape is the key. New fake coins will peel easier as they have the hexagonal shape.

In pound coins, we should only deal in 1 and 2 pound coins.

In pennies, we should only deal in 5, 10, 20, 50 pence pieces.

In pound notes, we should only deal in 5, 10, 20, 50 pound notes.

1 and 2 pence pieces should go out of circulation as they have redundant uses.

You need the penny cause high streets use the 99p in pricing.

Should we have a £100 & £500 note now?

They have $1000 notes in the US

Well make things in multiples of 5 then, £1.95 sounds much better with change always being in 5.

The .99 pricing has been a well orchestrated con for many years, conning your mind in thinking products are cheaper.
