nearest Micropub I can think of would be Chesterfield Ale House in, er, Chesterfield

Do you mean Chesterfield Arms? Much better to be found elsewhere nowadays. We're having a mini boom of micro breweries in Chesterfield at the mo totally recommend the Micro Brewery on West Bars in Chesterfield, Barlow Brewery have also just opened a pub, The Tap House, up Brampton (west side of Chesterfield)...and of course we have the Brampton Brewery pubs up Brampton, well worth the visit if you like your real ales

No, the Chesterfield Alehouse, opened towards the end of last year on West Bars - http://www.chesterfieldalehouse.co.uk/

Its a small converted shop unit that specialises in real ale and artisan cider.

There is also the Beer Parlour at Whittington Moor that has just moved to slightly bigger premises to cope with demand.

Dunno if it qualifies as a "micropub", but I regularly drop by The Plough in South Leverton (about 3 miles east of Retford). The sort of tiny village pub with a bar and 3 tables, and feels positively crowded with 5 to 6 patrons in it. Always has a fire going and local microbrewery ales on tap.

With you, sorry my error, mind went blank re its name was on about same pub as you in my post. We're also going to get another brewery open up in April. Its really refreshing to see pubs opening up again and they're attracting the crowds that's not been seen for years in some of these establishments!

So, I was on a course today and met a bloke who keeps bees and runs his own microbrewery, Big River.

He introduced me to the idea of "micropubs" and I was wondering if there are any close to or in Sheffield. Seems like a good idea for the few remaining as-yet-unconverted tram toilets...

There is the Chesterfield Alehouse which has some excellent beers. Also the Beer Parlour in Chesterfield just round the corner from the Derby Tup.
