Oscar Pistorius Trial

Recommended Posts

Because, regardless of what pistoriois said, the prosecution failed to prove their case that he did it deliberately.

garbage of course the prosecution proved their case its what that muppet of a judge accepted

The Court accepted Pistorius' claim that he didn't know RS was in bathroom on the basis that

this part of his account had remained consistent since the moments after the shooting. It was "highly improbable the accused would have made this up so quickly", she said.":loopy:

How long would it have taken him to work out that if he said he knew RS was in the bathroom then he would be locked up and that his only alternative was to say he didn't know she was in the bathroom? How difficult was it for him to remember this version throughout the trial?

Why did the Court rely on this absurd speculation but dismiss as speculation all the circumstantial evidence that indicated his account was highly unlikely / ludicrous ie why was she standing up, clothed in the toilet with her cell phone and the door locked, how did he not notice she was not in bed when he grabbed his gun from next to her, why did she not respond to all his screams at the top of his voice etc etc etc????

As for the question of whether Pistorius foresaw that his shots might have killed whoever was in the toilet the Court appears to have accepted that he did not based on the following argument

He should have known, but the law says 'should have' is not necessarily 'did' and therefore he didn't..

more l garbage the Law is simply saying that you look for other evidence to support whether he 'should have' Meant he 'did'. He lived with guns all his life, he loved guns, he went to gun ranges, 'zombie stoppers' he'd ordered a small arsenal of weapons, he had Black Talon ammo loaded, he slept with a gun, the restaurant incident! He didn't know what guns did? Ludicrous.

Another aspect the Court appeared to have relied on was the authenticity of Pistorius reactions after the shooting. All his howling and praying to God could only mean he was devastated to have accidentally have killed RS. Why would he not have had the same reactions if he had shot her in the heat of the moment and then realized what he had done and what the consequences might be. Was he howling for Reeva or Oscar. ?

The verdict is an insult to Reeva's family, and decent and intelligent people everywhere.

Pistorius is set to make a tidy sum from this. I can see him now, no jail time the straight to the tv studios to pour his little heart out about how he loved Reeva and how being a cripple is hard and how he loved his mum and how the state was out to get him. Its enough to make me sick up my corn flakes :(

Oscar? Hell yes! For best actor in a real life drama.

A friend has told me that he has a new girlfriend, is this true?

Hearing the pleas for a non-custodial sentence on his behalf are truly sickening.

'Prison will break him' - what!!! 'His career is over' - yeah, sure, it's a bit too late for that one, when spokespersons have already said that he will be able to race again in competitions.

It's an absolute travesty.

Oscar Pistorius' team have amazingly managed to turn this trial into the Oscar Pistorius show, marginalising his victim to the point of seeming irrelevance. The judge seems to have bought into it hook line and sinker. The way the trial went I wouldn't be surprised if he never set foot inside an actual prison. The length the judge went to excuse his actions in the verdict readout bordered on the sycophantic.

In cross testimony the social worker who suggested the house arrest for 3 years admitted they didn't know he fired 4 shots through the door. ???/ They said to Nel they thought he only fired one shot down to the floor. They admitted they were unaware of a lot of parts of the full judgement as Nel read them out. Nel suspects they have only read the judgement relating to the gunshot charges. what a farce ffs

its the South African judicial system that is on trial and it is guilty of favouring celebrity status. It appears if you've got millions to spend on a defense then there's every likelihood you'll get a softer sentence - The case has been dragged out for the best part of a year - The judge made a judgement and went off to make a sentence based on the crime - Now we have to listen to more waffle from more experts - It goes on and on - We've forgotten the real victim here who got a bullet in the head for dating this psychopath

he should at least get 15 years just for his crap acting.

I know someone who lives in SA and it's basically a very corrupt country....You don't even need a driving license to drive...you just have to have the money to bribe the cop that pulls you over ( I know this as fact)....if it's like that at the bottom of the justice system, then it doesn't say much for it at the top....He'll more than likely get off with a mild hand slap....
