Biography:

Strictly Kev has been involved with the multi-producer DJ Food project for 20 years, being the sole remaining member for the last decade. He has DJed the world over with Food originators Coldcut and PC as well as performing 4 deck Audio Visual sets with Solid Steel radio main man DK.

From 1995's ‘Recipe For Disaster’ onwards, he has mixed 100s of hours of audio for compilations, radio and the web using his 25+ years of DJ experience and vast record collection. He has been in the enviable position of scouring the Sesame Workshop archives in New York for an aborted mix album and being one of the only people invited to dig through Trevor Horn’s master tape collection for reissue material on the ZTT label. Whether re-scoring The Monkees’ cult classic film ‘Head’ on turntables or inviting Paul Morley to narrate a history of cut and paste music for his ‘Raiding the 20th Century’ mix, he’s most in his element when given a theme to work with.

In tandem he has enjoyed a career as chief designer for Ninja Tune since the early 90's, running parallel with his music making. In 2010 he was responsible for the entire look and design of the Ninja Tune XX campaign and releases, including a 200+ page history book, exhibition and the lavish box set that celebrated 20 years of the label.

In 2012 he released, ‘The Search Engine’, an album whose launch party was conducted in the London Planetarium with a 50 minute 360 degree full dome visual showcase made in conjunction with their astronomers. He has now expanded this and is seeking domes to host it worldwide, already having shown it around the UK and in Montreal, Canada. The same year he teamed up with DJs Cheeba and Moneyshot to reconstruct the Beastie Boys’ ‘Paul’s Boutique’ album from the original samples, a live version of which they will be touring throughout 2014

Just to let you know that for this event we are doing a special Thirsty Ear Birthday entry fee of only £3 on the door, all night long!

Realistically it should be at least £5, but because we wanted to keep the 9th birthday party open to as many of our regulars as possible, we decided to (rather foolishly) take the hit and keep it cheap at £3. We're in this for the love, to spread good music, see friends and have a blast.

So it's birthday party time on Saturday... Hope to see as many friendly faces as The Harley can hold!
