The Last Laugh Comedy Club is back at the Lescar with another cracking line up. Barry Dodds makes a welcome return to mcing duties with Ross McGrane and rising star Rachel Fairburn. Headlining is Canadian comic Ron Vaudry. If you like Tom Stade you’ll love Ron.

BARRY DODDS

The Geordie nervebag returns to one of his favourite clubs. Doddsy has forged an enviable reputation for himself over the past few years, charming audiences nationwide, with his uniquely tailored combination of disarming wit and wry, down-to-earth observational humour.

 

Barry has taken the national circuit by storm, with his mix of surprisingly dark and irrepressibly cheeky material.

 

Fascinated by stand-up from an early age, Barry took to the stage at the tender age of 21, and is now a firm audience favourite at clubs such as Highlight, The Stand, The Frog and Bucket, The Last Laugh, XS Malarkey and many more. In 2006 Barry jetted off to Luxembourg where he performed a solo show - and became the first ever comedian to perform on Luxembourg TV and in 2007 appeared in the prestigious Avalon Comedy Zone at the Edinburgh Fringe.

ROSS MCGRANE

Ross is quickly climbing the comedy ranks, Having beaten the infamous Gong at the Comedy Store on his first attempt and coming 2nd in the Comedy Cafe's new act night Ross has already found himself supporting industry heavyweights such as Jo Brand, Sean Walsh, Bob Mills and Patrick Monohan and recently has been booked as official tour support for Russell Kane playing in front of audiences as big 1600.

 

He's been lucky enough to perform several times at some of the country’s most prestigious venues, including Komedia, Backyard, Frog & Bucket and Outside The Box, sharing the stage with the likes of Jon Richardson, Ian Stone, Lee Mack & more. Ross has gigged all over the UK as well as abroad at various shows in the Middle East, compering, opening and headlining.

RACHEL FAIRBURN

Rachel Fairburn started doing stand up in January 2007, and was a finalist in both the Funny Women and City Life North-West Comedian Of The Year competitions the following year.

 

All Rachel Fairburn wants is to have fun but there’s three things stopping her: people, places and things! If only she could be left alone to enjoy life as it is meant to be- on her terms. Join Rachel as she tells tales of daily woe and explains why she’s convinced misery is in her genes . Gallows humour and stories of her family past mix into an hour of darkly hilarious fun.

 

RON VAUDRY

Ron Vaudry, was born 1956, looked around and said, “You can’t be serious!” Never the class clown, but rather making fun of the class clown, Ron found his niche.

 

Finding the opportunity to perform on stage for the first time in 1979 on labour day weekend in a small club in Montreal for the Jerry Lewis Joke-a-thon.Twelve noon to twelve midnight, all proceeds going to Muscular Dystrophy. "Good deposit in the karma bank!", he thought. Performing twelve sets that day, the hook was set and he never looked back.

 

Quickly becoming a forerunner on the Canadian comedy scene. Ron has appeared on numerous television shows in Canada, The United States, and the UK, as well as many of the top Comedy Festivals around the world. An uncompromising master in his field of hard hitting social and political satire, Ron’s reputation as a comic’s comic has not detered audiences from enjoying his unique comedic perspective around the world.

A favorite at both the Just For Laughs International Comedy Festival in Montreal and The Edinburgh Comedy Festival in Scotland, Ron has parlayed his standup success into headlining appearances at major comedy clubs on several continents. He is also a favourite at campuses across North America and the world.

 

His numerous television appearances include CBC's "COMICS!", Best of the Fest BBC3, "Comedy @ Club 54", and "The Late Show" with Arsenio Hall. He has also been featured on several radio programs including CBC's "Madly Off In All Directions" and "Definitely Not The Opera."

 

Ron also plays many of the top comedy clubs and venues internationally.

Cynical, angry and always controversial, Ron is truly a talent to be savoured.
