facilities Posted May 7, 2014 Author Share Posted May 7, 2014 Active8 Sheffield are pleased to announce that our 3rd annual 11-a-side Men's Summer Football Tournament will be returning on the w/c Monday 2nd of June 2014 and promises to be bigger and better than ever. Our F.A affiliated tournament has been hugely successful in its previous years, seeing some of the finest amateur teams in Sheffield compete for the title both young and old with Hallam 1860 Old Boys bringing in some household names from the past which have included Sheffield Wednesday's former stars Lee Bullen, John Sheridan and ex England international player and BBC pundit Chris Waddle featuring at various times. Last year also saw one of the other competitors Norton Oaks bring in another ex pro Danny Reet. The tournament will be played over a period of 8 weeks (depending on final entry numbers) on our 3G Astroturf during various weekday evenings and is often used as a perfect opportunity to keep the body ticking over during the close season. It also enables the club to test out new players or formations for example and provides much needed fixtures during pre season without having to find opponents, pitch and a referee as this is all arranged by us. Each team will play one game per week Monday - Thursday. It will take the form of a round-robin league, followed by semi-finals and ultimately a final. The event will be based at our very own King Edwards and Tapton Community Sports Centres. Teams will be charged £45 per fixture - this includes pitch hire, changing rooms, all required equipment (goals, netting, corner flags etc) and officiating costs. All you need to provide is your team, your kit and your skills. The final match dates will be produced once all competitors are confirmed. If you think your team is up to the challenge and want to compete for the title then please contact us on the details below. The closing date for entries is Wednesday 14th May 2014to allow us to register all participating teams with the County FA.
