It suggests that drug reform would appeal to young and ethnic-minority voters, who are crucial to the party’s long-term survival, while saving millions of pounds of public money. geared
Got bored after a couple of paragraphs, bit of a non-story really. Someone somewhere thinks xyz might win a few votes, perhaps, maybe.
Grandad.Malky
They have already bought the older voters by freeing up their pension pots , I guess they need a gimmick to buy the younger voters.

I don't think they have said that it is ONLY young and EM voters. I think they are correct though - there is very little point in fighting an unwinnable war. Mr Clowning
Another pipe dream promise. Didn't this or the last Government get advise to legalise drugs and then ignore the advise they commissioned ? This is just a distraction to take peoples mind from immigration in hope that the UKIP popularity wanes.
Phanerothyme
They are also showing how out of touch they are, assuming that only young and ethnic-minority voters take drugs. I figure they have already calculated that the rich land owning drug users are going to vote Tory anyway. Of course, no-one will vote for them on the manifesto promise of drug legalisation, because that's all it will ever be. The chances of the tories actually a)getting a majority and b)actually legalising drugs are so close to the average IQ of a kipper that it makes no odds. This is just a distraction to take peoples mind from immigration in hope that the UKIP popularity wanes. That was the labour government. But yes, governments in general have a habit of ignoring medical/scientific advice and doing whatever they feel like. ---------- Post added 30-04-2014 at 13:01 ---------- Of course, no-one will vote for them on the manifesto promise of drug legalisation, because that's all it will ever be. It will happen though, there's a gradually growing body of public opinion, supported by evidence, and eventually it will be changed, with whoever does it saying "I don't know why this wasn't done years ago".
