PHIL ELLIS

Phil Ellis has established a reputation as a unique, reliable and exciting act. A regular MC on the national circuit, his natural and instantly likeable style has proved a hit with promoters and audiences alike. Phil regularly MCs at big weekend clubs such as Last Laugh Comedy Club, Highlight and the Frog and bucket, where he has his own night at both the Preston and Manchester venue.

‘Ellis sets such a cracking pace… he flits around the audience with his frisky, easy banter spreading a feeling of good-humoured fun.’ Chortle

‘Mad and severely likeable… possessed with manic energy’ Metro

‘a great 70s-style slide-show’ Fringereport.com

SAM AVERY

Sam Avery wanted to be a rock star. It nearly happened.

Despite being signed up by BMG Records at the age of 17 (he had to resign from his beloved paper round), and subsequent tours with Motorhead and Ice T, the story soon took a familiar turn. Contracts were anulled, money was stolen and before he knew it he was back at the paper shop asking for his fluorescent bag back. He had crap hair anyway.

Subsequent jobs (including a brief stint as a stockbroker) failed to excite him the way the smell of sweat and snakebite had and it wasn't long before he turned to stand-up.

Friendly and enthusiastic, his observational style instantly puts audiences at ease allowing him to regale them with his tales of everyday life.

Sam has gained a reputation for being able to spark the dullest of rooms into life with his warm, infectious humour and quick wit which makes him ideal as either an act or compere.

NINA SMITH

Nina Smith is an actress, comedy performer and voice over artist.

On a circuit often criticised for a lack of originality amongst newer acts, Nina Smith is a breath of fresh air.

She's a performer with a wealth of comedy experience spanning sketch, stand-up and video projects, but it's her character and clowning act which has been delighting audiences for the past year.

Successfully bridging the gap between physical comedy and traditional stand-up, her on-stage persona is compelling and endearing, drawing audiences into the performance, making them both laugh at the brilliantly timed comedy and revel in being part of the routine.

Also a fabulous compere and a skilled improviser, Nina still regularly performs as a sketch act on the live comedy circuit too and has recently filmed a series of sketches for Funny or Die. She is one half of the comedy duo 'Twisted Loaf'.

Her comedic dexterity across a whole range of comedy performance, from the very subtle/naturalistic right up to clowning, definitely make her one to watch.

The highlight of the evening is Nina Smith. Smith, by far and away the more restrained of the three, slips from gawky tomboy to sexually voracious headmistress with the mere raise of an eyebrow sending her straight to the top of the class. – The Stage

NATHAN CATON

Nathan Caton’s charismatic and laidback style of stand up has seen him quickly establish himself on the comedy circuit. Regarded as one of the best young comics in the UK, Nathan’s award-winning combination of personal and topical anecdotes has lead to appearances on BBC2′s Mock The Week, BBC3′s Russell Howard’s Good News, BBC Radio 4′s Now Show, News Quiz and his BBC Radio 4 sitcom Can’t Tell Nathan Caton Nothing being commissioned for two series with a third series due to air in 2014.
