Henry's did well for me in the euros - big screen in the back yard, and a very good range of local and national ales - 10+ pumps.

i always think it's an underrated pub amongst the real ale crowd - seems underused and overlooked. probably because it's clean and modern looking, and women / younger people also feel welcome in there.... ;)

Henrys isn't under-rated. It's a nice pub. Just suffers from serving ropey old local beer. Why would I pay for that when I can get better stuff down the road? It may improve when (if?) the brewey tap opens.

But as an aside to this Henry's don't usually show the football any more do they? I was told once by a member of staff in there that they didn't put it on as it attracted the 'wrong type of crowd'. And it wasn't that I'd asked for a game on Sky or owt. It only needed the TV flicking over to ITV.

Me and friends have had the same problem especially for the 11pm kick off match!! We have had to compromise and are going to Rawson Spring - they have a selection of real ales that are good priced and they have a large screen!! Not great but there if you have nothing else!

Not sure if I'm honest. It certainly wasn;t the World Cup I was thinking about. Might have been the cricket - honesly can;t remember. But they DID show something - on a big screen behind the stage.

Euro 2012 - Watched a few games in there, was a really good atmosphere

was Hop open for the last world cup? thought it was newer than that! opened about 2 years ago IIRC

You're correct. It says 2011 on The Hop site. Must have been the Euro Champs. They had a good big screen and atmosphere was ok.
