Even you can find a consensus with Thatcher of all people and you're quite right to take a grown up view rather than an opposing view for the sake of it.

The point being made is that there should be some things that remain constants whatever the government of the day. Let them tinker with details of implmentation but leave the basics alone if it's the right thing.

This is the basic problem with Corbyn, he wants to change everything that doesn't fit with his personal view of the world, even if most people are happy with things the way they are. He's basically a spoiled brat.

I'm not sure that's true. Hs views are actually pretty moderate and in the centre. He doesn't really want to change a great deal.

It's only in the context of UK politics shifted right in the last 20 years that he can be portrayed as some kind of bogeyman from the hard left.

It's amazing how different everyone views the political compass, you saying that Corbyn was 'pretty moderate and in the centre' made nearly choke on my toast :D

For me Corbyn is as far left as Nick Griffin is far right :hihi:

Nick Griffin is not far right, he's far left. He's also a bigoted idiot, but that doesn't change the fact that he's a socialist.

Can anyone say what it is they diagree with about Corbyn beyond mere insults,

Eg "loon.....lunatic policies.....spoiled brat ". insults are insults not arguments ?

Foxy Lady, Quick, Eric, anyone else ?

Higher taxes for the rich.

The rich already pay a hugely disproportionate amount of tax. The top 10% are the only reason we have free health care, free education, decent transport links and much more. I earn about 20% more than the average wage and am a small net contributer to the public purse. This is because I have no children, if I did I would be a financial burden.

A maximum wage.

It is a policy of jealousy, like the above. I can't make that much money so you shouldn't either.

Trident.

The deterent does work. One day the balance of power will shift, as it has done many times in the past. It won't always be the white West that rules the roost, we could very well be as vulnerable to the whims of other powers as the Arabs are at the moment. If Palestine, I raw, Afghanistan etc were nuclear powers, their people wouldn't have suffered as they have.

Did you think that this was some kind of cryptic message instead of a crystal clear example of Corbyns spoiled brat grade E idiocy?

Talking of spoiled brats, I see that North Korea tested their first minaturised H bomb this afternoon.

On other unrelated news this morning, Corbyn appointed a Shadow Defence Secretary who intends to scrap the UK's nuclear deterrant.

This is a bit of a myth to be honest. Income tax on its own accounts for only around 25% of the total tax take. Everyone, one way or another, contributes to the remainder.

As an example, if I fill up my little car it costs me about fifty quid, the largest proportion of which goes into the tax coffers. I recently purchased a small amount of furniture @ £1200, thats 200 in vat plus whatever they mark up to cover business rates etc. It all adds up, right down to the tax on my new pair of shoes and my Mars bar.

Wouldn't you say that those with more money spend more and therefore pay more tax?

If you mean BNP, they are neither. The BNP are a right wing, extreme authoritarian party. They actually sit closer to the left/right centre than many parties. Single policies may be considered far right or far left, but the overall position of the party is close to the centre (of left and right).
