I don't think it is the working classes banjodeano, the working classes and the Labour party are not exactly seeing eye to eye these days, the Labour party currently appeals (and I know I'm repeating myself) to middle class socialists, the working class are stuck for true representation in British politics.

To be honest, it doesnt really matter who they appeal to, its just irrelevant, a lot of the working class have been brainwashed by the right wing media, but there are many out there who are independant thinkers and see socialism as the way forward, the main point is, the party is changing for the better, and democratically

What is wrong with supporting momentum, what is it about momentum that you disagree with?

Momentum can be classed as old fashioned Labour. a socialist Labour party

The most disingenuous post of the day.

There is nothing old fashioned about Momentum. From MacDonald to Hardie, Attlee to Smith, they will be spinning in their graves at what the middle class Marxists of momentum are trying to do.

The far left middle class marxist luvvies of Momentum have kicked out a Sheffield Labour councillor from running again because he's too working class.

Keiran Harpham, the son of a miner who was a Labour councillor for 15 years before becoming a Labour MP, with a step mother with a similar pedigree - somehow he's not the right sort of person for Momentum so they deselected him from standing again in their posh Broomill ward.

These are dangerous times to have opinions that don't comply. It's going to end in tears for Labour like it did in the 80's, and if doesn't we're all screwed.

Please elaborate...

momentum are trying to turn the party back to its socialist roots, the Labour party was formed on socialist principles, what is incorrect about that?

Hardie and Attlee will be turning in their grave at what the party had become..

for your information, i have been to many momentum meetings and not seen one middle class marxist...where are you getting your information from?

Does Labour always need a "flavour of the month" to continue to attract support? Back in the 90s it was New Labour. Now its Momentum.

suppose they are doing what we generally do as a country, something pops up and suddenly in fashion.

Like the recent metoo hashtag, things pop up, get popular, then disapear from view again and its something elses turn

Thats wrong that Mell, socialists have always been there, they have not had a voice for years until Corbyn became their leader, they were actually blocked and kicked out of the party, the Blairites have done their best to keep them out of the party, a party that was formed by people with socialist principles, your Blairites are the ones that have taken the party over, they are the ones that are not true labour, they are watered down tories,

Why are the Blairites scared of democracy?

Yes, I posted that article on the Labour Party thread. Momentum are very worrying, and have been for some time.

why do they worry you? because the media demonise them?

why do they worry you?

For the same reasons as ever.

The first thing that must strike any outside observer is that Socialism, in its developed form is a theory confined entirely to the middle classes.

The typical Socialist is not, as tremulous old ladies imagine, a ferocious-looking working man with greasy overalls and a raucous voice.

He is either a youthful snob-Bolshevik who in five years' time will quite probably have made a wealthy marriage and been converted to Roman Catholicism; or, still more typically, a prim little man with a white-collar job, usually a secret teetotaller and often with vegetarian leanings, with a history of Nonconformity behind him, and, above all, with a social position which he has no intention of forfeiting. This last type is surprisingly common in Socialist parties of every shade; it has perhaps been taken over en bloc from. the old Liberal Party.

In addition to this there is the horrible - the really disquieting - prevalence of cranks wherever Socialists are gathered together. One sometimes gets the impression that the mere words 'Socialism' and 'Communism' draw towards them with magnetic force every fruit-juice drinker, nudist, sandal-wearer, sex-maniac, Quaker, 'Nature Cure' quack, pacifist, and feminist in England.
