The best way is to make sure that the rotten to the core main parties are held to account, and start to fund our services in a sustainable way. It’s not about me as an individual.

It is, because you want to pay more tax. You can if you make a bit of effort. You say you want more money for public services and are happy to pay more for it, so knock yourself out.

Yes I do but I’m not going to randomly chuck sums of money at incompetent Tory governments

Ask for it to go directly to the NHS. Or lookup any one of the numerous NHS charities and donate, say, 10% of your salary each month.

I already make a number of charitable donations on a monthly basis

But if I could have my taxes hypothecated the first thing I do is reduce your benefits to cut off your supply of Amber Leaf *

* Only joking 😀

If you feel like you want to pay more tax though, that suggests you have spare cash available, so maybe you should up your charitable donations and give to NHS trusts, schools and homeless charities to supplement healthcare, education and welfare respectively.

PS. If any right wing forum member had made a similar "joke" to yours here, there'd be the usual left wing bandwagon jumpers (THC, Cyclone, Halibut, etc) all wading in and lecturing you for the next 20 pages. I'm guessing you'll be spared since you usually align with them.

I apologise, it’s up to you what you spend your benefits on.

As for what I choose to donate to thats my business but you’re not far off the mark there. A couple of the regular donations are to U.K. medical charities for issues important to me.

Good stuff but sounds like you need to dramatically increase the donations in lieu of all that extra tax and NI you're itching to pay.

Meanwhile, I'll pay as little tax as I can, and vote for the party that has the lowest taxation levels in its manifesto. Each to their own.
