Ukip. All discussion here please.

In the article he says "Policies proposed by Ukip could prevent much-needed specialists from working in Britain". Which of UKIP's policies would stop qualified health specialists from coming to work here?

It simply isn't true that UKIP policy would stop health specialists who can make a positive contribution from coming to the UK. UKIP simply propose scrapping the open door immigration policy for people from the EU and instead having the same immigration policy for everyone i.e. if you are useful then you are welcome and if you are not useful then you are not welcome. We would screen instead of accepting immigration as a job lot as has been the case under both Labour and the Coalition governments.

Anyway, carry on with your smears and lies... it only helps to bolster UKIP support. :D

It doesn't say that policies would stop,it says that they could stop. The smears and lies about TIDAL WAVES of immigrants on January 1st,the scapegoating of immigrants by UKIP for their own political needs, the lies of 'they are after your job' make UKIP fair game for giving them back the same medicine as they like to dish out............there will be more of the same,UKIP statements and policies will become more under scrutiny as and when they are revealed...........as I have done with the 'Deal Or No Deal' Farage fiasco where he changes his mind as and when it suits him on a pact with Tories,I,and many more people will be pointing out UKIP policy for what it is,whether it bolsters support or not................people are going to have their say on UKIP,like it or not.

Have your say but you need to justify it when asked or people will dismiss it. So please answer these questions...

Which of UKIP's policies 'could' stop health specialist from coming to this country?

If it is a lie that immigrants are not after jobs then how do they intend to support themselves?

So Farages popularity is thriving when he says one thing and then 5 months later he says the opposite of that?:D

Yes, im afraid it is, and bringing up old news will not do anything for your cause. Im not sure if UKIPs stance on immigration rattles you, but as a non white British person, I can honestly say he does not rattle me, and I believe his popularity IS thriving, and what with the way the other three parties are squabbling like mud skippers, UKIP is doing what it should, and trying to be honest.

Oh and I made a mistake in my reply! The OP said 5 months - it wasn't. It was a year and five months!!!

His party have the worst voting record of any UK party in Europe, but have no problem accepting the salary and expenses despite their inability to actually do the job.

.

They at least DID vote against TTIP in the EU Parliament!

Ask what Labour and the Tories voted???

You make a list of all the UKIP policies and say how they are going to directly make your life better if they are applied, nows your chance to sell Farage..........away you go.

Voting against TTIP which is more than Labour and the Tories did!

Say bye bye to your NHS if the EU get this treaty!

Ukip’s assault on the NHS would ensure its extinction

The public needs to know that Ukip would sell off the lucrative parts of the NHS quicker than the present government given half a chance

A little known fact about Ukip is that it believes as passionately about privatising the NHS as it does about Britain leaving the EU and blocking immigrants from settling here.

I arrived in the UK in 1978 with little in my pocket. Since then, I have built a life for my family here, and now every member of it devotes our lives to the NHS. My wife worked for many years as a GP, and now my son works as a cardiologist for the NHS. I am one of the lucky ones. Having trained in India, I went on to have a successful and rewarding 30-year career as a GP and became chair of Tameside and Glossop primary care trust. I also have an active role in the British Medical Association and am currently deputy chair of the BMA council. One of the proudest moments of my life was being awarded an OBE for services to the NHS. The NHS was built with the help of immigrant workers and professionals from across the world. As is most of the construction and transport sector.

Policies proposed by Ukip could prevent much-needed specialists from working in Britain, when in fact they are vital for the future of the NHS, public services and the economy. I don’t intend to patronise readers by preaching the benefits of immigration. But remember who caused our country the most problems: the bankers who plunged us into economic disaster, or Indian doctors and nurses?

The prime minister’s election pledge to safeguard the financial envelope of the NHS is very welcome, but it has to be underpinned with more detail for it to reassure me and our hard working NHS staff that this will genuinely be carried out if his party wins the election. It will offer little reassurance to many, including those working under the constraints of the Nicholson challenge to find £20bn of efficiency savings. David Cameron has a trust deficit when it comes to the NHS. Before the last election he said there would be no top down reorganisation, and then launched one so big it consumed £3bn.

Ukip, however, would sell off the lucrative parts of the NHS quicker than the present government given half a chance. Private firms and charities will be encouraged to bid for contracts, and the party would implement a “patient passport” policy that would allow patients to choose where they get treatment, or even take 60% of the cost of operations out of the NHS to go private.

In addition, patients could obtain “health credit vouchers” to opt out of NHS care altogether and buy insurance policies from private companies.

Ukip is known for making its policy on the hoof. But it was Ukip that said the NHS was not fit for the 21st century. It was Ukip that promised to impose £40bn of cuts to our NHS; that it would franchise out key services including hospitals and GP surgeries to companies and charities. The party is in favour of charging patients who require A&E treatment, but who don’t need treating within two hours, and it will promote mutual providers, including GPs, to charge a flat fee to see non-emergency cases. It also wants to make sure that when people register with a GP they can demonstrate that they will be able to pay off upfront fees over a period of time.

If the NHS is on the brink of extinction now, it will surely be put in a graveyard if Ukip has its way. In June, Paul Nuttall MEP, the vice-chair of Ukip, posted on his own website: “I would argue that the very existence of the NHS stifles competition, and as competition drives quality and choice, innovation and improvements are restricted. Therefore, I believe, as long as the NHS is the ‘sacred cow’ of British politics, the longer the British people will suffer with a second-rate health service.” He has since taken it down.

Ukip is now a political movement with elected members and considerable fundraising ability to propagate policies such as privatisation of the NHS.

This man or you were obviously not at the UKIP Conference like I was, so didn't hear the REL plans put forward for the NHS! Not privatisation anywhere, and welcoming people from abroad who have the qualifications we need.

This government and the last have already privatised some of it, and are backing TTIP which UKIP have already voted against. If the EU pass it, bang goes your NHS!

This is what Milliband should be doing, the good doctor is doing Millibands work for him............if more people knew what UKIP were about and other parties were prepared to take them to task for it,UKIP would not be having the easy ride they are

Milliband can do his own work - encouraging people to vote UKIP!!!

The article is a deliberate smear and if you actually knew what UKIP want to do about the NHS please check on it, or wait until the manifesto comes out.

Immigrants are not after 'your' job, which was what UKIP are claiming, they are after 'a' job.

You have to ask the writer of the article which of UKIP policies could stop them, that is his opinion,I am reproducing it here as it is his view on UKIP,someone with vast experience of the health service.

UKIP can refute the claims anytime they want to,the UKIP tactics of smears that I have already pointed out means that they can't complain if someone uses the same tactic on them.

Splitting hairs... a job is a job.

An expert on the NHS who makes up lies about UKIP policy... which you quote as evidence.

it won't happen, of course but Cameron should pull the plug on the debates which did not add anything at all and because of their very nature won't benefit anybody except Farage (and the tv companies) this time like they did not benefit anybody except Clegg (and the tv companies) last time.

Cameron is the only one that can pull the plug on the debates with him being Prime Minister. It would look very silly to have everyone else there except the guy who is supposed to be the head of government. But if Cameron pulls out of the debates, Miliband will surely pull out too, rendering them even more meaningless.

just because tv debates start does not mean that they have to continue as if they are an integral part of the constitution or something. There were no American presidential debates between 1960 and 1976.
