No,the quote I gave was the answer from Dustmann to any criticism that his figures were wrong, and he explains his reasons and answers anything levelled at him,I am quite happy with what he said and his survey...............you can choose to believe what you want.

He's hardly going to diss what his own survey said, especially when he's all for the EU.........you can choose to believe what he wants you to.

No not really it would have contributed a lot more... They paid tax fro 16 - 65.. they paid more than was needed for their own 2 kids...

Do we really need to go on with this... it's quite silly :hihi:

The point that I was making was that the tax paid by the aforementioned grandparents would have contributed towards the running of the country when they was paying the tax, not towards their grandchildren's education etc.

The point I was making was that if, as claimed, migrants make a net contribution.. ie the government makes a profit then if someone works from the ages of 16-65 then the government will have made a net profit throughout those years, therefore the grand parents will have provided more money than was used for 49 year. This means they have paid more in, than used, so they have contributed to the next generation.. :D

Why should he diss something that he believes he has done a good job of doing?,if he thinks that he has covered as much as is possible, and that the people doing him down don't have valid points,he's going to defend himself against them.If he's countered all the points that they have criticised his report for, with answers that he thinks stand up to any of their criticism then he's sucessfully defended himself.

The grandparents may well not have provided more money than they received in services over their lifetime, especially if they earned less than the national average.

Most of us make our biggest demands on the state purse before we start work (education) and when we retire (pension, health and social services).

A migrant coming here at say 21 and working is likely to contribute a greater net amount because we don't pay for their education for 13 years.

You mean like this cracker,

"In 2003, ahead of Poland and seven other ex-Eastern Bloc countries joining the EU, Professor Dustmann was one of the authors of the notoriously inept Home Office study predicting that only between 5,000 and 13,000 migrants a year would come to the UK. In the end, more than one million arrived – the largest single wave of immigration to this country since 1066."

They've made a positive contribution to the UK economy,so thank god that lots of them came to do that, sometimes,if you make a mistake,it can turn out to be a blessing in disguise, and the extra Polish immigrants have certainly been a benefit..............Dustmann has told us.............see the Daily Mail is looking at this as a bad thing,I see it as a good thing,it's all about opinions isn't it.................or prejudices :D

Unfortunately for many the benefits did not out way the down side, the right immigration policies could have given the UK the benefits without its population having to endure any significant down side.
