LeMaquis
Unfortunately for many the benefits did not out way the down side....... And for many the benefits of 12 years of free state education didn't outweigh the downside.
Zamo
They've made a positive contribution to the UK economy,so thank god that lots of them came to do that, sometimes,if you make a mistake,it can turn out to be a blessing in disguise, and the extra Polish immigrants have certainly been a benefit..............Dustmann has told us.............see the Daily Mail is looking at this as a bad thing,I see it as a good thing,it's all about opinions isn't it.................or prejudices Simple question. If we had had an immigration policy that screened out negative contributing immigrants (low paid, unskilled, large number of dependents etc) then would the net contribution of immigrants have been more or less? chalga
Simple question. If we had had an immigration policy that screened out negative contributing immigrants (low paid, unskilled, large number of dependents etc) then would the net contribution of immigrants have been more or less? Of course it would, but I am not saying that there should not be such a policy, just leave the EU in order to implement it,vote in UKIP to apply it,or vote out of the EU in Camerons referendum, whoever is chosen to do it..............the EU has told you that Free Movement is non negotiable............it stays,so while ever the UK is in the EU,they are the rules............and you can whinge about them as much as you like, the UK has a duty to uphold that rule or get out of the EU. The anti immigration, right wing media and politicians in the UK have run a negative propaganda campaign for years now against immigrants/immigration and still try to pedal the 'drain on society' myth that is believed by a large number of people in the UK,so there is still no acceptance of the fact by these that any immigrant is making a positive contribution............for ALL immigrants, lumping them all together in one huge 'bad news story', is the agenda that they want the public to buy into...........so go ahead, vote in the party of your choice to get the referendum and vote outof the EU,you balance up what EU membership means to you against getting rid of a few thousand unskilled Roma/Eastern Europeans

It is just the numbers and the unsavoury ones that concern people. The body of a young girl was dragged out of a canal in London recently, she was murdered by someone already convicted of sexual offences in his own country, he wouldn't have been here for one. If the EU agreed to let countries manage their own borders and ended the free movement of people there wouldn't be that many against it. There is the issue of governing our own country as well which many want. Unfortunately, the EU won't hear of any changes to these, so there's no option than to leave and the only party who want this, as the British people do, are UKIP. The EU has no rule that says free movement for criminals,if any country wants to keep out criminals then there is nothing stopping them from doing so,this is 'managing its borders'..............unfortunately for the UK,there is plenty of evidence that its own governments and border controls are not able to do that, through their own inefficiency.............nothing to do with the EU. We Brits are not only ones who have trouble with the unsavoury ones. Certainly so in your case. ---------- Post added 24-01-2015 at 10:52 ---------- Some say UKIP are a party of former Tories...
